Job’s Life
Job is such an inspirational character! God repeatedly tests him by allowing the loss of everyone and everything close to him, yet he continues to praise God.
Eventually, though, Job’s feelings of uncertainty and frustration, coupled with the fact that he didn’t deserve what had been done to him, began to surface. Rather than completely turning away from God, however, he questions Him and asks for explanations. God answers Job, but not directly.
It’s often incredibly difficult trying to grapple with what God is doing in our lives, but we shouldn’t lean on our own understanding. We can confidently surrender ourselves to the Maker of Heaven! We can rest knowing that God’s timing is always perfect.
“For I know the plans I have for you plans for well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11
Eventually, God gives Job back everything he lost and more. But first, God put him through a challenging season where his faith was tested. We need to put our faith in God just like Job did. Jesus left the Holy Spirit behind to help us in our day-to-day life. The Holy Spirit is a lot like the wind. You can’t see it, but you know it’s there by seeing its effect.
If we read our Bible and spend time with God, we can be more like Job, asking the Lord for help and answers.
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and rescues them from all their troubles.”
Psalms 34:17
May the Lord hear your prayers, may the Lord gift you with wisdom in your times of struggle, and may your faith grow and flourish!
Satan tries to alienate people from God. He tries to get in the way of us having a relationship with our Father, our Maker, and our Savior. We need to give God our lives wholeheartedly and trust Him just as Job did.
In chapter seven, Job is uncertain about his purpose in life because he’s unable to see the bigger picture. Like bakers have to trust the recipe to guide them through the steps of baking a cake, we, like Job, need to trust and follow God’s instructions in our lives so that we can begin to see things from His perspective.
Job’s life
Even in the darkest times, we must walk in faith.
“Jesus spoke to them again: I am the light of the world. Anyone who will follow me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
So be like Job: Ask God for answers, follow the Lord, and endure through this life with wholehearted faith in God our mighty Father. Amen.
